The social media era gives us the opportunity to reach more people, in more places, faster and more efficiently than at any time in human history.

The power of strong images, together with the immediacy of storytelling, is the foundation of education. It helps raise awareness of conservation, and inspires people to make positive changes in their everyday lives.
I’m humbled by the number of people who follow me and leave comments. Thank you, to every one of you!

06.20 PICTURE OF THE MONTH

During this lockdown I’ve put all my time and energy into editing images that have been resting in my hard drives for far too long. I find it extremely refreshing and creative as I’ve finally found some time to study new software and experimenting with new editing techniques.

I am also focusing on my fine art print collection.
From now on I will periodically release new images to add to the store.
This month release is

03.20 COVID-19 STAY CONNECTED

STAY CONNECTED

stay connected.jpg

In this time of coronavirus pandemic, we experience feelings of fear, hopelessness, stress, uncertainty and sometimes even terror and panic. In a situation that’s totally beyond our control, what can we do to help?

Self-isolation, physical distancing, and washing hands are all practical actions that, by now, should have become habits.

Humans are social creatures, however. We need to stay connected and, more than ever before, we need to distance in order to socialize. Thankfully, this is easier and more possible In the digital era. Emotions spread more quickly and without any kind of physical barrier. Emotions are more contagious than any virus (Dr. Deepak Chopra).

While staying informed about the ongoing crisis through the media, we should keep in mind the need to balance negative emotions with positive.
Negative emotions release chemical substances in our bodies like adrenaline and cortisol, which cause inflammation that weakens our immune systems.
Positive emotions, on the other hand, release peptides like dopamine, serotonin, and oxytocin, which help stimulate the immune system.

In sharing beautiful images of remote locations and cute, compelling creatures I hope to bring into your daily life a few seconds of joy to help you ease any discomfort you may be feeling in the moment.

Sometimes times of serious distress can have great social outcomes.
While the coronavirus pandemic demands physical distancing from one another, it is bringing people, families, neighbourhoods, provinces, and nations worldwide closer than ever before in an unprecedented global scale mobilization.

In every tragedy lies opportunity. Nobody would ever have imagined it possible to stop our economies. But here we are in almost a global lockdown.
Now it is time to reflect and learn.

In our self-isolation it’s time to re-discover the simple joys of life, like looking at the stars, feeling the wind on our skin, listening to nature and, most importantly, realizing that humans can’t be healthy in an unhealthy ecosystem.

We now know that humankind is able to act in unison for the global well-being.
Let’s hope that after CoVid-19 we will focus on relaunching our economies in a more sustainable way, addressing poverty, hunger, pollution and climate change as the foundations of a healthy future.

07.19 PICTURE OF THE MONTH

"Investigating" - Okavango Delta - Botswana

636-_BTS9653-550.jpg

If you have an opportunity to spend some time among the biggest land animals on Earth, you’ll probably immediately feel the powerful energy that surrounds these gentle giants.

Science has proved time and time again that they’re extremely intelligent and inquisitive creatures. Having poor vision, they rely more on their well-developed sense of smell and touch than  eyesight.

During my recent visit to Chobe National Park in Botswana, this elephant got particularly interested in our boat.  He approached slowly and started investigating us, smelling us with his super-sensitive trunk, almost touching my lens.

Once he decided my noisy camera was harmless, he quickly got bored and went back to grazing.
