BEHIND THE SCENE

A beautiful sunrise in the British Columbia's Cascade Mountains. The first rule in photography is 'be there.' Obviously if you aren't there, you won’t be able to get the picture.

Over the years I've learned that no matter what the weather forecast is, you have to be on-location, ready to shoot. Quite often it's in bad weather that you get the nicest images. You never know when the light might peek through the clouds and/or fog. And when it does, it might be really spectacular and much more dramatic than during clear skies.

During my recent trip to Manning Provincial park we woke up at 4am to reach the summit on time for the sunrise. Thick fog was waiting for us. Instead of turning back we decided to find a good flower meadow. We were soon rewarded with the sun peaking through the fog creating a wonderful scene.
