BEHIND THE SCENE

When photographing wildlife it’s essential to focus on your subject all the time, without any distractions. Sometimes, when bears are sleeping, they can sleep for long hours, and you might be tempted to nap as well.

In the past I’ve missed some great opportunities, simply because I was distracted. I learned that when things happen around bears, they often happen suddenly and very quickly.

One hot summer day, this mama bear decided to have a long nap in a fresh pond in the middle of a pasture. One of her two cubs did not fancy the cold water, and decided it was much more comfortable to hang on mama’s back while the other kept trying to play with mama.
