This photo expedition will focus on spring light, landscapes and wildlife.
Light conditions in Svalbard in April are simply magical, with snow-capped mountains and iced fjords.
With luck, we’ll have the opportunity to photograph wildlife like polar bears, walruses, seals, arctic foxes and reindeer.
Polar bears might not be as numerous as during the summer months. Once spotted in the warm yellow-orange Arctic spring light, though, you’ll have the photos opportunities of a lifetime.
We’ll be using the expedition ship M/S Origo exclusively for our group. Although Origo is designed for 24 guests we limit the group size to 12 participants, so that plenty of space is guaranteed for a group of photographers with plenty of equipment. The ship is equipped with a pair of Zodiacs for a closer, more intimate experience on the water.
The itinerary is weather and ice dependent. The expedition team will decide the itinerary on a day-to-day
basis, based on the best photo opportunities and the wishes of the group.
Day 1
Longyearbyen
Individual travel to Longyearbyen. Meet the group for a welcome dinner in the Hotel.
Day 2
The adventure begins
Depart Longyearbyen in the afternoon through Isfjorden. We photograph our first landscapes and are
starting to look for wildlife.
Day 3 - 5
Along the west coast of Spitsbergen
Our ship winds its way along the west coast of Spitsbergen. We visit Kongsfjorden, Lilliehööksfjorden,
Magdalenefjorden, Prins Karls Forland and other areas. We will see breath-taking winter landscapes, including glaciers. We have excellent chances in this area of seeing wildlife such as polar bears, walruses and seals.
Day 6 – 8
Off the north-west coast
Our journey continues along the northwestern coast of Spitsbergen, past Smeerenburgfjorden,
Raudfjorden and Liefdefjorden, More fantastic landscapes await us. There are good chances to see and photograph wildlife on the ice. If we encounter unfavorable weather conditions, we have the option of heading south to Bellsund and Hornsund.
DAY 9
Back to Longyearbyen
We sail back to Isfjorden and arrive in Longyearbyen late in the evening, around midnight.
DAY 10
End of the adventure
We leave the ship after breakfast and prepare for the trip home.
