This photo expedition will focus on spring light, landscapes and wildlife. Light conditions in Svalbard in April are simply magical, with snow-capped mountains and iced fjords. With luck, we’ll have opportunity to photograph wildlife like polar bears, walruses, seals, arctic foxes and reindeer. Polar bears might not be as numerous as during the summer months. Once spotted in the warm yellow-orange Arctic spring light, though, you’ll have the photos opportunities of a lifetime.
This 9-day expedition will be led by Daisy Gilardini, one of the world’s pre-eminent polar photographers.

The itinerary is weather and ice dependent. Spring has sprung at this time of year, but there may be
occasions when we face winter conditions. The expedition team will decide the itinerary on a day-to-day basis, based on the best photo opportunities and the wishes of the group.
Day 1 Longyearbyen
Individual travel to Longyearbyen. Meet the group for a welcome dinner in the Hotel.
Day 2 The adventure begins
Meet your dedicated expedition team and crew at the dock in Longyearbyen in the afternoon, where you will embark MS Villa and make yourself at home. After you are settled in your cabin, we will conduct the mandatory safety briefing before a group welcome dinner is served in the dining room as we sail out from Longyearbyen through Isfjorden. Your adventure has just begun! We photograph our first spring landscape and starting to look for wildlife.
Day 3 - 8 Along the west coast of Spitsbergen
We will be in full expedition mode, exploring the archipelago and taking advantage of all that Svalbard has to offer. We will see breath-taking spring landscapes, including glaciers. We have excellent chances in this area of seeing wildlife such as polar bears, walruses and seals.
Weather and ice conditions will determine the route and your Expedition Leader will keep you updated on the plan throughout your days onboard. On the final day we return to Longyearbyen to celebrate our shared adventures and dock for the night.
DAY 9 End of the adventure
Enjoy a final breakfast together at 09:00 as we say our farewells and celebrate our shared experiences.
