Selected from 26,000 images from photographers in 59 countries, the winners will be published in the 2017 Fall/Winter Awards Special Edition and displayed in the Awards Exhibition at the Smithsonian’s National Museum of Natural History in Washington D.C.

Back on land after almost two months in the Falkland Islands, South Georgia and the Antarctic Peninsula. Feeling blessed to be able to spend so much time witnessing the wonders of the Southern Ocean!

Perfect conditions are always difficult to judge. I was about to give up during this landing on Pleneau Island because the storm conditions were getting really wild. When I turned around to go back to the ship this is what I saw…. It turned out to be one of the best shoots in 2016. Beginning is a liberating process… HAPPY NEW YEAR!
